THE WALL

[SIGNIFICANCE]

[brick wall significance]

I chose a brick wall as my urban fabric because it represents the person talking to themselves, as I want it to be a personal question, hence “talking to a brick wall”. The brick wall is also common to see around the city, and will blend in with the notion of integrating the physical with the virtual.

[fish significance]

The fish symbolise people, and the different colours suggest that there are many different types of emotions that people can feel. I also chose carp as the breed because carp are amazingly and vividly gorgeous in my mind, and to see them in a different context – a brick wall instead of a pond – is going to be an exciting sight for me to see in reality. A carp symbolises courage and strength, which is what I want people to feel after experimenting with my piece of work.

[Desired outcome of the project]

What I aim to produce is a sort of device that allows people to freely touch and interact with, something that is aesthetically appealing as well as technically functional. I aim for people to be able to see themselves differently, after seeing themselves in a new world full of their chosen colour – only if they were patient enough to stay still.
